On petitions.net, a petition on the boycott of the Olympic Games in communist China was launched. The document is addressed to President Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The author of the petition – pastor Paweł Chojecki, editor-in-chief of Against the Tide TV, appeals to the President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland not to participate in the Games, which are to be held in 2022 in Beijing. Pastor Chojecki draws attention to the fact that a short distance from the Olympic Village there are concentration camps and prisons for political opponents of the Chinese regime. In his opinion, Poles should boycott the Games in solidarity with those who are persecuted. Pastor Chojecki emphasizes that the President’s visit to Beijing during the Games would bring disgrace to the people of Poland and their glorious history.
The text of the petition is presented below:
Mr. President, Mr. Prime Minister,
We appeal to you not to participate in the events related to the 24th Winter Olympic Games, which are to take place in communist China in 2022. Not far from the Olympic Village, there are concentration camps and prisons for political opponents of the totalitarian regime.
The people of Poland have been respected for centuries for standing up for freedom, not only their own but also someone else’s. The motto “For our freedom and yours” and the ethos of the “Solidarity” movement oblige us not to support the criminal regimes that are currently committing genocide, violating fundamental freedoms and human rights, and are aimed, like Hitler and Stalin, at conquering the whole world.
You have been elected to your positions not to pursue your own sympathies or political interests, but to represent the Nation of Poland with dignity. Your visit to Beijing during the Winter Games would bring disgrace to contemporary Poland and our glorious history, which is why we are addressing this petition to you.
We hope that you will act with honor.
Sincerely,
Pastor Paweł Chojecki
editor-in-chief of Against the Tide TV
“This petition is a tribute to all the persecuted people in Communist China. This is our voice expressing that we remember them” – pastor Chojecki said. “This campaign is also for people who will spend Christmas in communist China. It is not acceptable for us to celebrate the communist regime through the presence of our politicians at the Olympics,” he added.
Hanna Shen, our correspondent in Taiwan, stressed that the Olympic Games are a propaganda event in which two of the most dangerous people – Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin – will take part. Hanna Shen stated that anyone who joins the event will join the criminal community, and all those who respect freedom and respect other people should not participate in the Games. In her opinion, the participation of politicians in the Games is the destruction of the image of Poland in the international arena as a country of solidarity, which stands up and fights for its own freedom and the freedom of others.
According to Hanna Shen, we can only influence the media and politicians by putting pressure on them – we can achieve this by signing this petition, sending it to our friends and journalists – to their social media accounts.
In November this year, Pastor Paweł Chojecki wrote an official letter to the President of the Republic of Poland – Andrzej Duda, in which he asked whether the President intends to participate in the 24th Olympic Games in Beijing. The letter reached the Chancellery of the President but remained unanswered. Meanwhile, some countries are openly boycotting the Olympic Games, which are to be held in China. The first of the countries was Lithuania, later joined by the USA, New Zealand, Australia, Great Britain, Canada, Belgium, and Kosovo. Pastor Chojecki hopes that thanks to this petition, Poland will also join the above list.
