Third convention of the Polish-Ukrainian Bible Institute in Lublin

On October 31, we celebrated the 505th anniversary of the Reformation. The third convention of the Polish-Ukrainian Bible Institute in Lublin was devoted to this topic. It was held under the motto: „Reformation in Poland – lessons for the modern people”. The history of the Reformation in Poland in the 16th and 17th century was brought to us by Piotr Setkowicz, an engineer by profession, historian by passion, author of the book “A Flash in the Pan. From the History of the Polish Reformation”. During this convention we tried to answer the questions: Why was it impossible to consolidate the gains of the Reformation at that time? What caused Polish Christians to give the field to the Catholic Counter-Reformation? Are we not currently duplicating the same mistakes? Are we Polish Christians able to meet the challenges posed by the modern world, culture and politics?

The Polish-Ukrainian Bible Institute in Lublin is the first such project in Poland. The main goal of the Institute is to integrate biblical Christians from Ukraine and Poland in order to implement joint evangelization and church projects and exchange experiences of working for Jesus in Ukraine and Poland, learn from each other and pray together for the future of our nations. During the school year, ten sessions will take place – one per month.

The lecturers are pastors, professors and Christian leaders drawn from various evangelical churches and organizations.

Lectures are posted on the Institute’s YouTube channel.

To celebrate the Reformation Day, we organized the All Saints’ Ball, which included a recital of Christian songs. We also had the opportunity to listen to a message from pastors and, above all, spend time talking, playing and dancing together.

“Your Move” Foundation, to commemorate Reformation Day, created a flyer and a short video about what the Reformation was and what it means for Protestants.

Everything that we have achieved so far has been possible thanks to God’s blessing, thanks to the generosity and support of our viewers, and thanks to the hard work of a talented and well-coordinated team.

We are not paid by any means by the government, political parties, corporations, or any other groups and therefore, we can work completely independently and achieve such success in reaching Poles with the truth.

Report from a conference about Father Francis Blachnicki

In October, we participated in a scientific conference “Father Franciszek Blachnicki. Scientist – Visionary – Practitioner” organized by the Catholic University of Lublin. We created a report on the event, in which we gave the floor to people who knew Father Blachnicki, his disciples, co-workers in the World-Life Movement. In the reportage we seek answers to the questions: what was the phenomenon of the reformer priest and what was the main purpose of his life. We have also posted on our channel a lecture “The actions of the secret services against Fr. F. Blachnicki,” given by former head of the Military Intelligence Service General Andrzej Kowalski.

Iranian woman Zeebandeh Abedini Bychuk on Against the Tide TV

Iranian Zeebandeh Abedini Bychuk commented on the ongoing protests in Iran which started on September 16 and were sparked by the unexplained death of young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini. The woman was detained by customs police for not covering her hair properly and, according to her family’s account, was subjected to torture, which contributed to her death.

In the interview, Zeebandeh Bychuk said Iranians are fed up with an Islamic government that exercises power by force and violence and does not respect basic human rights, and added that she envies Ukrainians their leaders: “I would like to see in my country someone like President Zelenski, who would care about his people, about his country.”

We also asked our guest whether these protests will contribute to the overthrow of the Ayatollahs’ regime in Iran.

Krzysztof Gwizdała in the Against the Tide TV

Our guest, Krzysztof Gwizdała, is the head of the apostazja.eu portal. We discussed the vision of Poland according to Jaroslaw Kaczynski, who recently stated that every patriotic Pole, even a non-believer, “must adopt a Christian system of values.” We asked our guest about whether Kaczynski’s words mean that we are slowly approaching a religious dictatorship, and what ideological future awaits Poland.

Report on the activities of the Association “Ku Dobrej Nadziei” (Towards Good Hope) from Bialystok

Helping the vulnerable – people without a home and those struggling with addiction – is the mission of the “Ku Dobrej Nadziei” Association from Bialystok. We have created a reportage that shows the activities of the association’s members: from providing a place to stay, to providing medical help, psychological support or organizing courses for the unemployed. They are in the process of building a training house for the homeless, and have further plans to build a center for people in crisis of homelessness, dependents.

Pastor Pawel Chojecki’s appeal hearing

The Court of Appeals in Lublin has scheduled a hearing in the case of Pastor Pavel Chojecki for November 22, 2022. On June 10, 2021, the court of first instance issued a non-final judgment sentencing the pastor to 8 months of restriction of liberty in the form of community service. This is the first case in Polish history in which a secular court has tried a Protestant pastor for criticizing Catholic dogma. According to the prosecutor’s office, Pastor Pawel Chojecki, editor-in-chief of the Against the Tide TV, offended the religious feelings of Catholics and insulted objects of Catholic religious honor with statements in line with Protestant theology.
